Methods

Somatic Experiencing

Somatic Experiencing is a body-oriented therapeutic approach that focuses on healing and resolving trauma and stress-related disorders. This modality recognizes that trauma is not only stored in the mind but also in the body. Somatic Experiencing aims to gently guide individuals to access and release trauma-related energy and sensations held in the body. Through heightened awareness, gentle movement, and guided inquiry, this approach supports individuals in renegotiating the way their nervous system responds to traumatic experiences, promoting resilience, regulation, and a greater sense of well-being.

Trauma-Informed Yin Yoga

Trauma-informed Yin Yoga is a gentle and introspective practice that integrates the principles of Yin Yoga with a trauma-sensitive approach. It involves long-held, passive poses that target the deep connective tissues of the body. This modality emphasizes mindfulness, grounding, and creating a safe space for individuals to explore their bodies, release tension, and promote healing. By focusing on breath, relaxation, and self-compassion, trauma-informed Yin Yoga supports the integration of mind, body, and spirit, providing a nurturing environment for trauma survivors to reconnect with their bodies and cultivate resilience.

Tantra

Tantra is a spiritual and philosophical tradition originating from ancient Indian teachings. In the context of relationships, Tantra encompasses practices that emphasize conscious connection, sacred sexuality, and the integration of the spiritual and physical aspects of life. Tantra invites individuals to explore deep intimacy, presence, and expanded states of consciousness. It encourages a holistic approach to relationships, embracing the interplay of energy, emotions, and spirituality. Tantra practices may involve meditation, breathwork, body awareness, and rituals, creating a sacred space for individuals to cultivate profound connections and personal transformation.

Compassionate Inquiry

Compassionate Inquiry is a transformative therapeutic approach developed by Dr. Gabor Maté. Drawing from principles of mindfulness, somatic experiencing, and compassionate presence, this modality offers a profound pathway for individuals to explore the root causes of their emotional and physical challenges with a gentle and compassionate lens.

The belief that self-understanding and healing arise from a space of curiosity, compassion, and non-judgmental presence. This process shines a light on unconscious patterns and underlying emotional responses that influence thoughts, behaviors, and relationships.

Roots of Soma

The word "soma" has its roots in ancient Greek and Sanskrit. In both languages, it refers to the body or physical form. In Greek, "soma" means "body," while in Sanskrit, it has a broader meaning encompassing the physical body, life force, and subtle energetic aspects.

Somatic practices, rooted in the concept of soma, focus on the embodied experience and the wisdom held within the body. Somatic practices recognize that the body is not merely a physical entity but also a source of valuable information, emotions, and sensations. These practices explore the integration of mind, body, and spirit, seeking to enhance self-awareness, healing, and transformation.

Somatic practices can take various forms, including movement-based modalities, mindfulness techniques, breathwork, body-based therapies, and more. They often involve paying attention to bodily sensations, exploring movement patterns, releasing physical and emotional tension, and cultivating a deep connection with oneself. Through somatic practices, individuals can develop a heightened sense of body awareness, access their innate wisdom, and promote overall well-being.

It's important to note that somatic practices can be diverse and influenced by various cultural and therapeutic traditions. The focus is on the lived experience within the body and the integration of body, mind, and spirit to promote healing, self-discovery, and a sense of wholeness.
